Ankit Bagchi
Ankit Bagchi is a film curator, programmer born and brought up in Kolkata. Currently based out of Orrisa, he is the curator and advisor of the Santali Art and Film Development Foundation. He has been working for the programming of some renowned film festivals worldwide including the renowned Slamdance Film Festival, US. Megacity Short Docs , Regina International Film Festival (Canada ), International Kolkata Short Film Festival and some others . His special interest area of curating films includes films from indigenous communities , human rights ,gender , children films , home movies ,animation , video art. Alongside programming, he gives festival consultancies to independent filmmakers all across India. Presently working for the development of Santali film industry in Baripada, Orrisa, he has been promoting the unseen beautiful shooting locations of the place alongside mobilising training programmes for the tribal youths. He is also a student of Film preservation and restoration and one of the participant of the recent international audio visual archival summer school organised by Fiaf , Switzerland and film heritage foundation. He usually curate the film's that comes to a festival in general but for some years he is also working on impact films . He is also advocating environmental films which connected with human rights issues . He had worked with megacities short docs, a festival can address the challenges of cities and fosters a solution. He is a ardent believer of traditional and sustainable way of living and now currently working with a tribal community of indigenous peoples in India and trying to document their indigenous knowledge of sustainability
